v Awards Portsmouth 2009
vinvolved Portsmouth held their 2009 v awards at Jongleurs in Portsmouth.
This was their first annual awards celebration, and was also the official launch of the Portsmouth team.
Over 50 vthank you certificates were handed out to volunteers who have done over and above what was expected of them and a total of 44 vfifty awards were also given to young people who have completed over 50 hours of volunteering.
We also gave an outstanding achievement award to one volunteer who has completed over 200 hours in the last 10 months.
Portsmouth Youth Action Team launch 'vnews'
The Portsmouth Youth Action Team have launched their vnews.
This is a quarterly newsletter that will be sent to organizations and volunteers in Portsmouth.
vnews is full of articles about the projects the young people taken part in and set up.
Donate your old mobile
In conjunction with FoneAid, Solent Youth Action is collecting and recycling old mobile phones.
Not only is this good for the environment it is good for our volunteers. For each handset, Solent Youth Action will receive £3.00.
This money will go towards helping us to continue to support all the fantastic volunteers we work with across South Hampshire.
Raising money for The Blue Cross Shelter
A group of volunteers from Chamberlayne College for the Arts have been fundraising over the last few months to raise money for The Blue Cross.
They have run "guess the name of the tigers" and "guess the name of the dog" for younger children who won the large soft toys if they guess the correct name.
The volunteers also took part in a sponsored dog walk.
Overall, £89.20 was raised and the volunteers had a tour around The Blue Cross shelter when they donated this money.
Learning First Aid
On Wednesday 22nd April, seven Take Action volunteers took part in a First Aid course at Woodlands Community College that covered all aspects of basic First Aid.
