Volunteers at Solent Youth Action are offered exciting and rewarding opportunities. All volunteers undertake a comprehensive training package enabling them to be fully skilled to volunteer with SYA’s Projects and groups.
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, motivated individuals to work as part of our dynamic youth work team. We have a number of young people with additional needs who require some support to attend clubs and groups. We need volunteers for our one-to-one community Buddies Scheme. The buddy scheme offers children and young people aged 10-19 with additional support needs an opportunity to be supported by a fully trained ‘buddy’ to access activities in their community such as bowling, cinema, football and scouts. You will be required to support and engage with the young person enabling them to participate in their chosen activity.
Provided you are over 18 years of age, are patient, understanding and feel you can support a child or young person (with training) to engage in activities, we’d love to hear from you.
YOUTH SUPPORT WORKER
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals aged 18 and over to support our children and young people at our additional needs projects. From evening provision to school holiday clubs, we are looking for volunteers who like to bake, play pool and don’t mind learning to play band hero with our lovely young people. If you enjoy those things (or think you might), please get in touch and find out how you can support our young people to make friends and socialise.
STAUNTON STAR SUPPORT VOLUNTEER
Animal and people lovers required!
The ‘Staunton Stars’ are a group of volunteers aged 16- 60 who meet every Thursday to volunteer at Staunton Country Park in Havant. They LOVE it there, but they need a bit of support to do it. We are looking for some individuals who enjoy the great outdoors surrounded by chickens and lambs and other cute farm animals to help support this great group of volunteers to engage in their own volunteering. You will be working closely with SYA staff to support the group, guiding them on the tasks. You can be as hands on or hands off as you wish, just as long as you help to encourage and support our group.
What tasks we do: Mucking out animals, gardening, painting, maintenance, sweeping etc.
What you’ll get as a volunteer: A LOT of gratitude from the group, hot drinks at lunch and cake on your birthday, staff benefits including staff discounts on food, gifts and entrance on days you’re not volunteering at Staunton Country Park, and the chance to work in a great environment with the nicest group!
Commitment: Thursdays (not including half term or Christmas/Easter holidays), 10am- 2pm
We are looking for trustees to support and govern our super passionate youth provision charity. We are particularly seeking those with experience in HR, Fundraising and Marketing, but if you feel that you could help us to continue to support young people then we’d love to hear from you! As part of a small team of volunteer trustees, you will support and govern our Youth Provision charity, helping to direct it towards an ever positive future.
Prior experience or knowledge of the voluntary sector is not necessary – just an interest in helping young people to make a positive difference for themselves and others. Trustees meet once every 4-6 weeks from 6-8.30pm, and we always provide pizza.
If you’d like to volunteer as part of our amazing team, please just get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 02380 650 514 to chat about the opportunities
